BENEFIT RAISES MORE THAN $550,000 FOR ROBIN HOOD

Watermill, NY – Yesterday more than 400 people gathered at the beautiful Equuleus Polo Club in Watermill, New York to cheer on polo legend Nacho Figueras in a tournament benefiting Robin Hood, New York’s largest poverty-fighting organization. Figueras played alongside fellow world class polo players including Joe DiMenna, Mariano Gonzalez, Martin Pepa, Stefano Natella, Alainn Bailey, Magoo Laprida, Francisco Ayala and Tommy Franco.

This year’s tournament raised more than $550,000, surpassing last year’s tally. And because the event was fully underwritten by Presenting Sponsor Piaget, Team Sponsors St. Regis Hotels and Resorts and Credit Suisse – with generous support from the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation and Zen Air – 100% of ticket costs will go to fund some of the most effective schools, job training programs, medical interventions, homeless shelters and emergency food programs that support New York’s most vulnerable residents In addition to a hard-fought match between teams from St. Regis Hotels & Resorts and Credit Suisse, more than 100 children took part in the festivities, which included sunset polo lessons, pony rides, arts & crafts, and a traditional Argentine “asado” barbeque.

Co-chairs for the event were Figueras and his wife Delfina Blaquier, Diana & Joe DiMenna, Larry Boland, Lise & Michael Evans, Amanda & Glenn Fuhrman and Alainn & Stefano Natella. Vice chairs were Gabby Karan De Felice & Gianpaolo De Felice, Anthony Ingham, Mary Kathryn & Alex Navab, and Laura & Brent Nicklas.

“This is the third year that our family has had the honor of welcoming so many friends and neighbors on behalf of Robin Hood,” said Diana DiMenna, event co-Chair, along with her husband, Equuleus Polo’s Joe DiMenna. “Robin Hood is the best poverty-fighting organization in New York City, and we are thrilled to help them change so many lives for the better.”

“We are proud to join the Robin Hood Foundation and Nacho Figueras for the third annual Piaget Hamptons Cup,” said Larry Boland, President of Piaget North America. “The event strengthens both our relationship with the sport of polo and our support for Robin Hood and the local New York community.”

“All of us at Robin Hood are truly grateful for the incredible generosity of Diana and Joe DiMenna for organizing this event on behalf of Robin Hood,” said David Saltzman, executive director of Robin Hood.

“Yesterday’s event at Equuleus was truly inspiring and thanks to the caring community of sponsors, guests, and organizers, thousands of New Yorkers in need will receive vital, life-changing services, enabling them to build better lives for themselves and their families.”
