LEARN HOW TO SECURE FUNDING FROM
RESULTS-DRIVEN, EVIDENCE-BASED FUNDERS

Grant Readiness and Insights Training (GRIT) is a cohort-based program that provides training and support for talented executives from the social service nonprofit sector to qualify for and secure funding from foundations in the metro-New York City area. The goal of the program, which is made possible by support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, is to teach leaders how to obtain support from results-driven, evidence-based funders like Robin Hood. The deadline to apply to this current cohort is January 17, 2020.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

TO QUALIFY FOR GRIT, NONPROFITS MUST MEET
THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

Grant-Ready Insights and Training (GRIT) is a cohort-based program that provides training and support for talented leaders of organizations from the social services nonprofit sector at a crucial milestone of development. The goal of the program is to teach these leaders how to obtain support from results-driven, evidenced based funders like Robin Hood.

  1. Be based in New York City metro area (i.e. New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut)

  2. Offer an intriguing social service

  3. Be outside the Robin Hood Portfolio (not be a current community partner) and neither have applied nor received Robin Hood funding in the past five years

  4. Experience organizational or programmatic shortfalls or inadequate summary of results that may limit chances for program grants from evidence-based funders

  5. Oversee a budget of at least $500,000

  6. Be fully operational for at least three to 10 years

How to apply

The application is a comprehensive assessment of your organization’s qualifications and requires the submission of official documents. Please be prepared to include the following documents with your application: 501(c)(3), most recent audit, most recent IRS form 990, budget to actuals for the entire organization, and list of board directions with affiliations.

Application timeline

January 17, 2020: Application Deadline

January 20 – March 5, 2020: Application Review, Interviews, and Selection

March 6, 2020: Candidate Notification

April 7 – June 18, 2020: Program sessions 

 

Application Process

Application: Prospective participants will complete an online application which Robin Hood will review.

Interview: After the initial application screening, Robin Hood will invite prospective candidates for an interview to determine suitability for the program.

Notification: Applicants who represent a strong fit with and commitment to the program will be invited to participate.
