PURCHASE, N.Y., – May 4, 2017 – The PepsiCo Foundation is teaming up with Robin Hood, the largest poverty-fighting organization in New York, to support Robin Hood Rocks, the organization’s successful fundraising concert series. With the help of iHeartMedia, the program will spotlight two intimate performances from a selection of today’s hottest music stars and kicks-off again this spring at Kola House in New York City.
The first of two performances this year will feature Axwell & Ingrosso on May 25, 2017. iHeartMedia’s Z100 and 103.5 KTU will promote the event on air and one hundred percent of the proceeds from the events will go toward Robin Hood’s efforts to fight poverty in New York City. Limited tickets for the May 25 event will go on sale at 10 a.m. EDT on Friday, May 5 and can be purchased via Robin Hood’s event page. Additional information on the second show will be available in the coming weeks.
“We are thrilled to partner with Robin Hood to help address one of the biggest issues facing our city: poverty,” said Tony West, PepsiCo’s General Counsel and President of the PepsiCo Foundation. “At PepsiCo, we pride ourselves in harnessing the power of music to connect across generations and to the issues that are important to them. Through this partnership, we hope not only to leverage this concert series to call attention to the disparities in our society, but to invest in effective means to uplift the impoverished and pave a sustainable pathway for them to thrive. Because our community is strongest when all of us succeed.”
In New York, 1.8 million people live in poverty. Known for helping struggling New Yorkers build better lives for themselves and their families, Robin Hood houses, feeds, trains, educates, advises and cares for hundreds of thousands of people in need. The organization funds the most effective nonprofits in New York and provides ongoing support and guidance. Last year alone, Robin Hood reduced barriers to opportunity for nearly 500,000 New Yorkers: keeping families stably housed, providing emergency food, securing jobs for the unemployed, educating thousands of children, and much more.
“We’re grateful to the PepsiCo Foundation for their generous support and to iHeartMedia for their longstanding commitment to helping their neighbors in need,” said Wes Moore, CEO of Robin Hood. “The concert will really channel great energy towards doing good.”
